Neurosurgery in the Bay Area

World-Class Compassionate Care & Advanced Surgical Techniques

Welcome to Bell Neuroscience Institute of Silicon Valley, where our neurosurgeons have stellar reputations stretching across the globe. We have access to some of the most sophisticated technologies available and this enables us to push the boundaries of modern medicine to produce positive outcomes for an ever-expanding range of neurological conditions. We always put your needs and interests first by combining cutting-edge technology with a highly individualized, patient-centric approach.

What Is Neurosurgery and What Do Neurosurgeons Do?

Most people commonly associate neurosurgery with brain surgery, but in fact, it involves much more than that. This medical specialty involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves throughout the body. Physicians who treat these conditions are known as neurosurgeons, and they treat a wide range of conditions, from head injuries to brain tumors and Parkinson’s disease. They must graduate from medical school, complete a one-year surgical internship, and complete a seven-year neurosurgical residency program accredited by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education.

Learn About Our State-of-the-Art Facilities & Technology

BrainSuite®

Our neurosurgeons utilize a highly advanced technology known as BrainSuite®. This high-tech imaging system offers incredibly precise navigation of your brain and spinal system, and our facility is one of the few in California that uses it in the operating room. BrainSuite brings together neuronavigation, visualization, patient positioning, and image processing to minimize openings made during surgery and to perform treatment with the highest degree of accuracy.

Intraoperative Imaging

Our neurosurgeons use Bodytom® and Certom® systems for real-time total spine and brain imaging during surgeries. This allows for highly precise surgical instrument placement and thus improves outcomes and expands the range of minimally invasive procedures we can perform.

Biplane System

The Artis zee biplane system is a major advancement in interventional radiology that offers our neurosurgeons advanced 3D imaging for easy patient access with full-body coverage for brain, spine, and pediatric imaging.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery

These procedures are considered the gold standard for noninvasive neurological disease treatment. Our neurosurgeons utilize Gamma Knife® Perfexion™ for precise treatment of brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, Parkinson’s disease, and other conditions. This offers unlimited cranial reach to treat multiple brain areas quickly and accurately and without the negative side effects associated with whole-brain radiation therapy.

Minimally Invasive Neurosurgeries We Perform

Whenever possible, we utilize minimally invasive surgical procedures. The goal is the same as traditional operations, but they result in less pain and blood loss with a lower risk of complications and a shorter recovery period due to smaller incisions.
