Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion
Anterior Cervical Discectomy allows the offending disc to be surgically
removed. This is through an anterior approach to relieve spinal cord or
nerve pressure and alleviate pain, weakness, tingling and numbness. The
anterior approach to the cervical spine is done through the front of the
neck. Spinal surgeons often prefer it because it allows good access to
the spine through a relatively uncomplicated pathway. The patient tends
to have less wound pain from this approach.
