Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF)
Spinal infusion is a surgical technique to stabilize the spinal vertebra
and the disc. Lumbar fusion is designed to create solid bone between the
adjoining vertebra, eliminating any movement between the bones. This procedure
is to reduce pain and nerve irritation. This procedure is to treat conditions
such as degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis or recurrent disc
herniations. Two one-inch incisions in the back are made to provide access
to the disc space and to decompress nerves using a muscle-splitting technique,
leaving muscles attached to the bone.
