About Dr. Safaya

Dr. Rakesh Safaya is board-certified in Vascular Surgery and brings nearly three decades of experience to his practice. His journey began with a Master of Science degree in General Surgery from the University of Kashmir in India, followed by his medical degree from Government Medical College Srinagar. Dr. Safaya honed his skills after his education to various hospitals and medical centers in California, Washington, Texas, and New York. He completed his general surgery training at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, before receiving a fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Driven by a passion for helping others, Dr. Safaya's philosophy of care is centered on compassion and patient understanding. He meticulously explains diagnoses and surgical options, ensuring each patient feels informed and empowered. Fascinated by surgery since high school, Dr. Safaya chose vascular surgery for its unique challenges. Each patient presents a distinctive case requiring individualized care, making "one-size-fits-all" solutions impossible. This constant need for a personalized approach fuels his passion for the field.

When he's not helping patients, Dr. Safaya enjoys traveling the world and exploring its diverse cultures. He also maintains an active lifestyle through hiking and swimming.
