Mary S. Maish, M.D.
Dr. Maish is a thoracic surgeon with a diverse background and a specific interest in general thoracic and foregut disorders, including benign, malignant and complex esophageal disorders. An undergraduate of Northwestern University and Rush Medical College in Chicago, she completed her General Surgery residency at a hospital affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania. In the following few years she was the Roddy Scholar in cardiothoracic research at Brown University and obtained a Master's in Public Health from Harvard University. She completed her training in thoracic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine/MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and an esophageal/foregut fellowship at USC. She developed the Center for Esophageal Disorders, where she was director for eight years. She is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery and emphasizes minimally invasive approaches in all aspects of her clinical practice. Described as vivacious, bright, skilled and compassionate, Dr. Maish has recently joined Washington Township Medical Foundation as the Chief of Thoracic and Foregut surgery. She will be directing comprehensive programs in thoracic, foregut and bariatric surgery, including lung and esophageal cancer, mediastinal disease, benign lung disease, GERD, achalasia, eosinophilic esophagitis, esophageal strictures, Barrett's esophagus, hyperhydrosis and obesity.
