Rajvir Shahi, MD

About Dr. Shahi

Rajvir Shahi, MD, is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and provides care for patients 18 and over. She joined Washington Township Medical Foundation in October 2021. Dr. Shahi specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the broad and comprehensive spectrum of medical conditions encountered by adults. She is also trained to provide counseling to patients on disease prevention and overall wellness.

Dr. Shahi grew up in a small town on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at the University of Victoria and went on to obtain her Medical Degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency training in New Jersey at Overlook Medical Center. There, she spent a large part of her training actively working on the frontlines taking care of critically ill COVID patients when hospitals were overwhelmed during the pandemic.

Dr. Shahi has a strong background in clinical research. She helped to lead and coordinate an initiative to provide accessible HIV and Hepatitis C testing to the underserved population in Vancouver's Downtown East Side, holding “pop-up” clinics at drop-in centers, homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences, and her team was awarded a grant from the Ontario HIV Treatment Network to help optimize these portable clinics for testing. This role provided her with the ability to address the complex clinical and social needs in vulnerable populations.

Her commitment to providing exceptional healthcare at Washington Township Medical Foundation is further exemplified by her compassionate and empathetic nature. “I want my patients to know that when they come to see me, I truly hear their concerns,” says Dr. Shahi. She looks forward to providing comprehensive care and to actively working together with her patients when establishing the best possible treatment plans. She is also very passionate about patient education, especially regarding the topics of health promotion and disease prevention.

When not in clinic, Dr. Shahi and her husband enjoy traveling, hiking, spending time with family and enjoying the Fremont and Northern California area. She is fluent in Punjabi, a member of the American College of Physicians, and is very excited to be part of the team at Washington Township Medical Foundation.
