Timothy Ortlip, MD
Dr. Ortlip discusses his philosophy of patient care in
this new video.
Otolaryngologist Timothy Ortlip, MD, joined Washington Township Medical
Foundation in January, 2019, and is a highly regarded ear, nose and throat
specialist. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he attended the
University of Delaware, where he obtained a B.S. in Biology with a minor
in Chemistry. He returned to Philadelphia to receive his medical degree
from Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Medical College. During
this time, he realized his potential for treating patients both medically
and surgically in the field of Otorhinolaryngology.
His experience as a physician-researcher is deep. Dr. Ortlip spent five
years at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he completed
an intensive surgical training specializing in head and neck surgery.
While there, he discovered his passion for all forms of facial reconstructive
surgery. He fostered this passion through several research endeavors focused
on techniques and outcomes of oncologic facial reconstruction. Dr. Ortlip
also spent an extra six months investigating the longitudinal potential
for mesenchymal stem cells harvested from tonsil tissue. His research
and excellence in the field of facial trauma led him to be invited to
London, England as a guest speaker to over 300 European delegates at the
Imperial College Trauma Conference in 2014.
Upon completion of his residency at the University of Maryland School of
Medicine in 2017, he joined the faculty at Thomas Jefferson University
Hospital in the Department of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,
completing a fellowship in 2018. He is currently board certified in Otolaryngology
and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Along with his expertise
in treating ear, nose and throat disorders, Dr. Ortlip has a proficiency
in rhinoplasty, Moh’s reconstruction, facial nerve disorders, ear
reconstruction, botox, laser treatment, augmentation and other techniques
for facial enhancement and rejuvenation.
In addition to all types of ENT issues and treatments, Dr. Ortlip also
has an interest in difficult noses, including reconstruction, as well
as sinus surgery. He is equally at home with adult and pediatric cases,
and has authored or co-authored research that has been published in many
peer-reviewed journals, such as JAMA and the Journal of Clinical &
Medical Sciences. Active in volunteering his specialty to help those in
need, Dr. Ortlip has participated in international humanitarian missions
to provide ENT care for both adults and pediatrics.
Away from work, Dr. Ortlip and his wife are happy to be living in Northern
California, where they like to frequent new and diverse restaurants. Dr.
Ortlip is a top golfer, having played competitively in high school, and
also enjoys photography, videography, snowboarding, hiking and biking.
“I am excited to offer my highly skilled services to the patients
of Washington Township Medical Foundation,” said Dr. Ortlip, who
also has experience at both Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center
and Kaiser Permanente Modesto Medical Center. “This is a very vibrant
and dynamic community, and I’m very happy to be part of it.”
