Flu Shot in Fremont, CA
Why Get the Flu Shot?
Influenza is a very serious illness that can be fatal. The “flu season”
sees different risks each year, and certain people are at higher risks
than others. Every year, millions of people contract the flu. Of these
individuals, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized, and thousands die.
Not only the very young, very old, or immune system-compromised are at
risk. Even if you are healthy, you could experience severe complications
rising from the flu. The smartest and most effective way to protect yourself
is to get immunized yearly with the flu vaccine recommended for that flu season.
Washington Township Medical Foundation offers flu shots at multiple walk-in
locations for patients throughout the Bay Area, Oakland, and the Silicon
Valley. Appointments are also available.
Who Should Get the Flu Shot?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that every
individual aged 6 months and older get the annual flu shot every year
with only rare exceptions. During some years, the nasal spray flu vaccine
may be an alternative option to the shot. It is best to get the vaccine
as soon as possible when it becomes available. The vaccine may be released
as early as October, and should still be available January or later. If
it is still being offered, it is not too late to get immunized.
