“I think my patients value the perspective of a female obstetrician-gynecologist,”
said Bettina Kurkjian, MD, a Fremont resident and mother of two who has
been practicing in Fremont for almost 20 years.
She has long been known in the community for providing women with the highest
quality of care, both medically and personally. “For my patients,
the goal is to listen first, then provide the most up-to-date information
possible,” she said. “Working together, we can reach the best
possible solution that meets a patient’s individual goals and needs.”
Dr. Kurkjian is interested in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology,
with a special focus on prenatal care and preventative care. “Everyone
at Washington Township Medical Foundation is well-versed in the latest
research and treatments, and we provide care that is both compassionate
Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr.
Kurkjian received her medical degree from the University of California,
Irvine and completed a residency at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland. Before
coming to Washington Hospital in 2001, she was a staff physician at Kaiser
Permanente in Milpitas. She is a Fellow of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
In addition, Dr. Kurkjian takes an active role in quality improvement at
Washington Hospital. She believes strongly in the hospital's Patient First ethic. In addition
to being Past Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
she continues to serve on multiple committees. Much of her time is dedicated
to collaborating with medical leadership and hospital administration to
facilitate process improvement, ensuring all decisions made and actions
taken are based on what is in the best interest of the patient.
“I really enjoy what I do,” said Dr. Kurkjian, who likes to
cook, exercise and travel when away from work. “Being a part of
this community and taking care of patients within that community is very
rewarding. One of the greatest pleasures is when people walk out of my
office feeling better than when they came in,” she added. “Knowing
that my interaction inspires them to take better care of themselves is
very gratifying, and makes it all worthwhile.”
