Joyce Lu, MD

About Dr. Lu

Dr. Joyce Lu is board-certified in vascular surgery with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of California, Los Angeles, California (UCLA) and Medical Doctorate from Albany Medical College, Albany, New York. During her time at Albany Medical College, Dr. Lu received two notable acknowledgements and awards. First, the Albany Medical College Richard O. Shapiro Prize for having the most meaningful contribution to the well-being of the class. Secondly, she received the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award which honors those that demonstrate excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion, and dedication to service. Dr. Lu completed her vascular surgery residency at Spectrum Health Network, Grand Rapids, Michigan. After her residency, she joined on as a vascular surgeon at South Valley Vascular at Visalia, California. Recently, she joined Washington Township Medical Foundation as one of our vascular surgeons.

Dr. Lu’s philosophy of care is enabling patients to live their best lives by being a partner in their care journey as both a surgeon and an educator. Dr. Lu takes an active part in helping her patients understand the complexity of their disease which has likely played an important role throughout their entire life. With a comprehensive and personalized assessment, she aims to establish treatment plans with her patients to “enable both of us to take the journey together with confidence.”

Vascular surgery drew in Dr. Lu because of its constant and rapid innovation throughout medical history in seeking new approaches to treat universal issues. When asked more on the innovative aspects of vascular surgery, Dr. Lu remarked “Our specialty continues to study and develop surgical options to improve care for patients to make them safer and minimally invasive. Being a part of a surgical profession with such a rich history and ongoing commitment to advancements for patient care, brings me great satisfaction and pride.”

In her free time, Dr. Lu enjoys being outdoors in the mountains, exploring art museums, wine tasting, and enjoying new food. Being a Bay Area local from Cupertino, she appreciates being back in her hometown community to spend time with her friends and family.
