About Dr. Velasco
Victor Velasco, MD, is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Santa Clara University, CA. Following that, Dr. Velasco completed his medical education at David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California Los Angeles; completed his residency at Los Angeles General Medical Center (formerly known as LAC+USC) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and finished his fellowship at Kaiser Permanente - University of California San Francisco in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. After spending some time working at Kasier as an OB/GYN, he joins us at Washington Township Medical Foundation's (WTMF) to offer his urogynecological services, thanks to the partnership between WTMF and Bay Area Gynecology-Oncology.
Dr. Velasco entered the field of obstetrics, gynecology and surgery because of his experiences at David Geffen School Medicine. This led him to “become passionate about women’s health and surgery” as well as “guiding women through both surgical and non-surgical management of pelvic floor disorders.” With his schooling at Santa Clara University, Dr. Velasco remarked “I very much enjoyed my Jesuit education, especially the focus on using the privilege of higher education to improve the lives of the people in our communities.” He has used his education to help others in the field of obstetrics & gynecology by volunteering as a surgical skills lab instructor and offering mentorship at David Geffen School of Medicine.
Dr. Velasco is a proud parent of his miniature Dachshund, Lola. In his free time, he enjoys classical music and running – sometimes at the same time. Last interesting note, Dr. Velasco was the principal bassoonist in the Santa Clara Symphony for five years.
