Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine in The Bay Area

We Are Leaders in Our Field

At Washington Township Medical Foundation, we are a leader in general orthopedics and sports medicine services. We provide personalized treatment for patients from board-certified orthopedists and orthopedic surgeons and a compassionate support team. The goal of orthopedic treatment is to address pain, stiffness, flexibility, and mobility constraints and to help slow the progression of degenerative diseases like arthritis. Our orthopedic doctors diagnose, treat, and manage all kinds of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, which involves the bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues.

Typically, patients referred to orthopedic or sports medicine specialists have joint pain or swelling that won’t respond to at-home care like over-the-count painkillers, ice, or rest. If you have mobility concerns, a sports or work injury, or joint problems, it could indicate an orthopedic problem that would benefit from expert treatment. Our orthopedists use research-backed nonsurgical surgical treatments for a variety of conditions, starting with the least invasive, conservative treatments first. If more extensive treatment should be necessary, our facility has the most modern technology available.

Sports Medicine Specialists in the Bay Area

Our team treats athletes of all skill levels from weekend warriors to students and even professionals. Our accomplished team delivers the finest diagnostic and medical treatment services for athletes of all ages, too, through minimally invasive techniques such as arthroscopic procedures for knee, shoulder, hip, and ankle injuries. These procedures ensure you get back in the game faster, with better results, minimal scarring, and a lower risk of complications.

We are proud to offer a high level of care served with compassion, skill, and experience. Our goal is to help athletes perform at their peak level so they can achieve all their goals. Our team includes orthopedic surgeons, fitness experts, athletic trainers, and physical therapists. We work together to create treatment plans designed to suit your needs. Our multigroup practice ensure practices have access to specialists they need so they can get quick referrals.

Our Services

Our orthopedic services start with diagnostic imaging and often post-operative rehabilitation techniques, when necessary, such as physical therapy.

Our general orthopedic services include:

  • Arthritis treatment: About one-third of American adults have arthritis. This condition causes stiff, immobile, and painful joints. There are more than 100 different forms of arthritis and your orthopedist can work with you to find the appropriate treatment plan. Options may include anti-inflammatory medications, corticosteroid injections, assistive devices, and lifestyle changes such as weight loss may be recommended. Some arthritis cases are so severe that they require surgical treatment such as a total joint replacement.
  • Arthroscopic surgery: These minimally invasive operations allow patients to recover more quickly, as the incisions are much smaller than those utilized in traditional open surgery. The fiber-optic arthroscope instrument used in arthroscopic surgery is inserted through the small incision used for diagnostic or treatment purposes.
  • Biceps tendon rupture: With age, injury, or overuse, the biceps tendon can become inflamed or prone to tearing at either end. Symptoms include pain, weakness, bruising, and deformity. Complete tears could require surgical repair. In less severe cases, nonsurgical, conservative treatment is typically all that is necessary.
  • Cartilage repair surgery: Your cartilage facilitates movement, so cartilage damage can lead to serious pain and loss of mobility. Our orthopedic surgeons offer surgical techniques to treat cartilage damage. Examples include autologous chondrocyte implantation and osteochondral autograft transplant (OATS).
  • Corticosteroids: Often used to treat patients diagnosed with disorders such as arthritis, irritable bowel disease, lupus, and scleroderma, these injections, optical applications, or oral applications are used to fight inflammation.
  • Nerve blocks: Patients experiencing severe pain may benefit from a nerve block. This occurs when a material such as phenol or alcohol is injected into or around the nerve. This stops pain signals from being sent to the brain.
  • Trauma / Fracture: Our team at Washington Township Medical Foundation Orthopaedics treats patients who have suffered traumatic injuries such as broken bones.
